Test the User Experience
Learning Objectives
After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:
- Connect your user account to Salesforce.
- Complete the set up for new users.
Get Ready to Test
A new configuration wouldn't be complete without making sure it works! A Slack admin or trusted stakeholder can help to test Slack Sales Elevate before launching to the larger audience.
Once you’ve completed the administrative setup for Slack Sales Elevate, you can connect your account as a user. Make sure everything functions as intended before proceeding. This lets you experience Slack Sales Elevate from a user’s perspective as you prepare to train and enable them on the new tool.
Connect Your User Account to Salesforce
To start testing, log out of Salesforce as the Integration User and log in with your personal credentials.
- Click the Sales tab in Slack.
- Click Connect to Salesforce. Note: Be sure to log in as your personal user.
- Confirm your personal email address and click Allow.
- If you’re still logged in as the integration user, click Not you? to enter your personal credentials.
- If you’re still logged in as the integration user, click Not you? to enter your personal credentials.
- Close the confirmation window and return to Slack.
Complete the New User Setup
New users are prompted to complete three setup steps for Sales Elevate: Opportunities, Metrics, and Notifications. The options they have will depend on the list views you created, along with their permissions and access in Salesforce. While the opportunity list views will default to the list views you created, users can also search and view other lists they have access to.
For this step, you should be on the screen for Sales Elevate.
- Click View Opportunities.
- After ensuring your opportunity list views are correct, go back to the Sales tab.
- Click Add Metric.
- Type the name of a report and click Next.
- Select a metric from the drop down and click Save.
- Click Create Notification.
- Select the notification type and notification details.
- Click Save Notification and go back to the Sales tab.
Users can always revisit and edit these configurations in the future as their needs grow. For example, a user might want to edit a notification they created that is particularly noisy by adding conditions to reduce the frequency.
You can revisit the admin settings at any time by clicking the three dots in the upper right and select Edit sales settings.
Congratulations! You connected Slack and Salesforce, created an integration user, and configured Slack Sales Elevate. But the journey doesn’t end there. In the next unit, you learn the best ways to get your team up and running on Slack Sales Elevate.
