Map Salesforce Capabilities to Your Business Needs

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe a Salesforce industry blueprint.
  • Explain the benefits of using a Salesforce industry blueprint.
  • Identify what’s included in a Salesforce industry blueprint.

What Are Industry Blueprints?

Many of our customers ask how they can take advantage of everything Salesforce has to offer. Blueprints offer a product-agnostic overview of key business capabilities common to most customers. An industry blueprint diagrams the end-to-end process, from uncovering opportunities to discovering solid industry solutions.

Salesforce industry blueprints represent the Salesforce point of view (POV). This POV is developed based on industry trend information, customer insights, and input from partners.

Using Industry Blueprints

Industry blueprints align cross-functional stakeholders on the capabilities that are most important to your organization.

You can work with your Salesforce account team or a Salesforce partner for help assessing the business and platform capabilities most suited for your organization based on your business needs

What’s Included in an Industry Blueprint?

In order to build an industry blueprint, consider what details you need to capture in order to be successful.

Platform Enablers, API, and Data Sources are common across all lifecycle stages and business processes. Use them to determine the baseline of functionality needed to support tailored solutions.

The industry blueprint has several main uses.

  • Map common business capabilities to stages of the customer lifecycle.
  • Determine which capabilities are most important to your organization to create alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Understand the high-level platform capabilities needed to power your organization’s business needs.

For example, the Retail Industry Blueprint outlines a blueprint with capabilities like Meet Shoppers Where They Are, Build the Workforce of the Future, Power Innovation with Data & Insights, and Optimize Business Relationships. These are the business needs that must be satisfied at each stage of the lifecycle for the retailer to achieve business success.

Salesforce is here to help you plan the best new customer experiences and enhance your existing ones. Contact your Salesforce account team or a Salesforce partner for help assessing the business and platform capabilities most suited for your organization.
