Are you ready to become an Essentials advisor? As the program continues to grow, there will be opportunities to apply for future cohorts and become an Essentials advisor. First, let’s look at the skills and qualifications needed to become a successful Essentials advisor.

What Skills Make an Essentials Advisor Successful?

So what does it take to become a successful Essentials advisor? An Essentials advisor is passionate about helping small businesses succeed and understands that the journey for a small business is just beginning with Salesforce. Being an Essentials advisor means more than just completing the program and being approved by the Salesforce team. 

To be successful means you go the extra mile to work with customers, think creatively, and develop novel solutions to help SMB customers grow. As an Essentials advisor you have knowledge of the Essentials product and can connect with customers who are new to Salesforce. An Essentials advisor is someone who has the passion to continue learning all things Essentials, builds trustful relationships with customers, and has the drive to launch their Salesforce careers.  

Being a successful advisor also means understanding how to approach a customer conversation. As an advisor, you must put yourself in the shoes of a small business owner. Remember that the business workflows and problems facing an SMB customer can be vastly different from that of an Enterprise customer. With Essentials being the simplest version of the Salesforce CRM, the product functionality will also be limited. It’s important to take a step back and really understand the use case of each customer in order to find the best solution. Every customer is different and every customer conversation will be unique. 

Candidate Qualities

Like any application process, there are certain qualifications that the Essentials Advisors Program team looks for when reviewing potential advisors. A candidate applying for this program needs to show a passion for helping small businesses thrive. Whether that is from a personal experience or from a small business that is close to their heart, that passion portrays the level of dedication the candidate will bring to the program. We are looking for people who are positive team players and who will help share ideas and best practices with others. Candidates who make it into the program will be added to a cohort of other eager and enthusiastic individuals, so being a team player and helping others learn is an important part of being accepted into the program.
