Before You Start

Before you start this module, consider completing this recommended content.

What’s Data Cloud in E2E Sub-Second Real Time?

End-to-end (E2E) sub-second real time means that data or responses are processed and delivered in less than one second, providing near-instantaneous results. Real time can also be measured in other units, from milliseconds to minutes. For simplicity, in this module, we refer to E2E sub-second real time as real time.

A self-driving car is an example of a real-time device. A self-driving car processes data from its surroundings and decides on its next action near-instantaneously. When the car in front of the self-driving car slams on the brakes, the self-driving car processes this data and computes the optimal action based on its surroundings, speed, and other factors. Then, it delivers the defensive action: slamming on the brakes or swerving out of the way. To prevent accidents, ‌data processing must happen in real time.

Data Cloud is also a real-time platform, which means you have near-instant access to customer interactions across systems. When a customer interacts with your website, their data is ingested in real time. Data Cloud instantly calculates insights on the user’s behavior, such as number of clicks per product category. Based on their interests and activities, you can personalize the website, provide product recommendations, and more. The customer’s profile is also immediately updated and shared across platforms, so if the customer leaves your website and calls customer service, your service agents know the customer’s recent actions.

Data Cloud in real time is about understanding and responding to your customer’s actions as quickly as they happen. This real-time response enhances customer experiences, improves marketing efficiency, and helps you make smarter decisions.

In this module, learn how teams across your company benefit from Data Cloud in real time. Then, explore the different features across Data Cloud that have real-time capabilities.

Data Cloud in real time gives service teams immediate access to the latest customer data, including the most recent interactions. Service teams find faster resolutions, improve customer satisfaction, and increase their efficiency.

Commerce: product recommendations

Commerce teams struggle to keep customers engaged because product recommendations are based on outdated information, leading to missed opportunities and lower conversions.

Data Cloud in real time analyzes customer interactions instantly and updates product recommendations. The most relevant products are displayed to customers, leading to customer engagement, higher conversions, and more revenue per visit.

Marketing: targeted campaigns

Traditional marketing campaigns rely on outdated segments from previous interactions, leading to ineffective targeting and lower engagement rates.

With Data Cloud in real time, create dynamic segments and trigger campaigns based on previous and most recent real-time interactions, leading to increased engagement, higher conversion rates, and improved ROI.

Website development: personalized experience

Websites don’t personalize individual customer experiences. Every customer sees the same content, resulting in lower engagement.

Data Cloud in real time enables instant access to user profiles so you can dynamically modify web content based on real-time interactions. This personalization leads to increased engagement, increased conversion rates, and improved customer loyalty.

Company-wide: profile sharing
