Add Targets and Adjust Step Timing

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Add or remove a quick cadence target manually.
  • Adjust step timing to pause or resume a cadence.
  • Use reports to apply cadence-related actions to large groups.

Add or Remove a Target

In the previous unit, you created a quick cadence named Super Buyer Club. The club is open to customers whose sales reach $1 million with your company. You just found out one of your customers, Barry Brown, qualifies. Follow along with these steps to add him to the cadence you set up for the Super Buyer Club.

  1. In the Contacts list view, select Barry Brown.
  2. Select Add to Cadence.
  3. Enter Welcome Super Buyerin the Cadence Search field.
  4. Select Add.

From the list view, you can efficiently add multiple targets to a cadence at one time by selecting the checkbox next to each name.

You can also remove targets from your cadence in a list view if you determine the target is not right for that cadence using the action menu.

If you’re working with an individual contact record, the Sales Engagement component offers you another removal option. Click the Actions menu within the Sales Engagements component to remove the contact from a cadence. In this screenshot, the Actions menu reveals Remove from Cadence.

Adjust Step Timing

What if you’re heading to a conference, and want to pause your outreach efforts while you’re away? Pause the cadence step in the Work Queue or To Do List. This example shows the To Do List, which you can access from the bottom left corner of the screen.

  1. From the Brown Bear Call-MakeACall task for Tom Ripley, select Adjust Step Timing from the action menu.
  2. In the Adjust Step Timing window that opens, select Pause Indefinitely from the When should this step start? menu.

Mass Cadence Actions in Reports

Use reports to apply cadence-related actions to large groups of records. Run a report, then add an entire group to your quick cadence with a single step, applying Add to Cadence. This is an efficient way to work with many targets at once instead of individually selecting each record.

Configure reports to modify groups of records from the Lead, Contact, Person, or Account objects and apply these Sales Engagement actions. Reports must start with a Lead, Contact, or Account object. For list views and reports, cadence actions apply to a maximum of 200 records at a time.

In this unit, you learned how to work efficiently with cadences. You can add targets individually or in groups or pause and resume a cadence target. In the next unit, you’ll learn how a few simple setup steps and customizations will make your work with cadences even more productive.
