Congratulations! If you’ve made it this far, you’re not only on your way to an impressive new Trailhead badge—you’re well on your way to implementing a new CRM system! You’ve learned a lot of the basics. And there’s a lot more for you and others in your nonprofit to learn.

We don’t expect you to do it all on your own. Let’s wrap up with a tour of some great free resources that support you to continue building your Salesforce and NPSP skills.

Keep On Learning with Trailhead

You’re obviously already familiar with Trailhead by now. If you're ready to dig into fundraising, check out the Donation Management module. Then you might continue on to the Manage Volunteers for Nonprofits trail. Or, depending on your CRM implementation priorities, you might make tracks to trails that we’ve mentioned earlier in this module, such as the Salesforce platform, data modeling, or customizing the user interface. On the Trailhead home page, look for specific trails or modules, or sort by topic and level. For example, on the Trails page, look for more basics trails designed for the Admin role and Beginner level. Tap Into the Nonprofit Community for Help

With your grant, you get a set of no-cost subscriptions to NPSP, along with access to the Power of Us Hub (log in with your NPSP trial username and password). The Hub is a portal for members of the Salesforce nonprofit community to collaborate. Whether you implement NPSP on your own or with help from an implementation partner, you can always turn to the Hub with your questions. Folks in the Hub are eager to learn from and help other users.

The Hub is also home to the Knowledge tab, which contains documentation resources for NPSP and other products. We encourage you to visit the Hub often, both now and as you become more of a Salesforce power user.

The Salesforce Trailblazer Community is another great resource for connecting with general Salesforce users. It’s a collaboration tool for the global Salesforce community, similar to the Power of Us Hub but not nonprofit-focused. If you aren’t sure how to do something—for example, create a new field on your Contact object—you can post questions and get answers from other customers and partners.

Before you post a question, it’s good community etiquette to try “Search the Community” first, to make sure your question hasn’t been previously asked and answered. Keep in mind that members of the Trailblazer Community typically aren’t as familiar with business processes or solutions unique to nonprofits.

The Trailblazer Community is also a great way to connect with your local Salesforce User Group. These groups are organized by and for customers, who meet to learn and share ideas and best practices. Look for a nonprofit user group in your region.

A Healthy Org Is a Happy Org

Lastly, we want to mention the NPSP Health Check tool. Strictly speaking, it’s not a technical assistance or training tool, but it’s a valuable, free service that helps busy Salesforce admins with housekeeping. Health Check runs a “checkup” and warns you about any settings that seem out of sync or data that may be incomplete.

  1. Go to the App Launcher App Launcher icon and click NPSP Settings.
  2. Under System Tools, click Health Check.
  3. Click Run Health Check.

If anything seems off, Health Check gives you tips for resolving each warning. For example, it might tell you to look at a preconfigured report to identify incomplete records.Health Check warns you about a potentially incomplete record

Think of Health Check as an assistant who helps you inspect around the house for needed maintenance. Run it regularly to keep the cobwebs out of your system.


You now have an idea of what Salesforce can do for your organization. You know how to get started, what tools you need, and where to go for help.
