Prepare Your Org for Net Zero Cloud
Learning Objectives
After completing this unit, you'll be able to:
- Describe Net Zero Cloud permission set licenses.
- Create profiles in your org.
- Turn on Net Zero Cloud in your org.
On the Road to Net Zero
Northern Trail Outfitters (NTO), a (fictional) fast-growing retail company known for its outdoor and recreational gear and apparel, is committed to tackling climate change. As part of the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, NTO plans to track, analyze, and report on greenhouse gas emissions throughout its supply chain using Net Zero Cloud.
In Net Zero Cloud Basics, you met Sam Rajan, NTO’s chief sustainability officer, as he began NTO’s net zero journey.
To set up Net Zero Cloud, Sam turns to NTO’s Salesforce admin, Safiya Rees. In this module, you follow Safiya as she gets Net Zero Cloud up and running in NTO’s Salesforce org.
Get Your Salesforce Org Ready for Net Zero Cloud
In this module, we assume you are a Salesforce admin with the proper permissions to install and configure Net Zero Cloud. If you’re not a Salesforce admin, that’s OK. Read along to learn how your admin would take the steps in a production org. Don’t try to follow the steps in a Trailhead Playground. Net Zero Cloud isn't available in the Trailhead Playground.
Safiya starts by setting up her org's My Domain. My Domain allows you to create custom subdomains unique to your organization. My Domain is also required for custom Lightning components and to set up single sign-on. Every org gets a My Domain by default. If you don’t like your org’s My Domain name or need to change it, you can. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, search for and then select My Domain. For more information, see the links in the Resources section.
Next, Safiya confirms that her org has the necessary Net Zero Cloud permission set licenses. Permission set licenses give users access to features that aren't included in user licenses. As the Net Zero Cloud admin, Safiya assigns the permission set licenses to herself so that she can configure the app.
- From Setup, search for and then select Company Information.
- Click Permission Set Licenses.
- Confirm the presence of the Net Zero Cloud permission set license and at least one analytics permission set license.
-
Net Zero Cloud
Gives access to Net Zero Cloud features and to standard and Net Zero Cloud objects.
-
Net Zero Analytics Base3 Apps
Available with a Net Zero Cloud Starter license. Gives access to Net Zero Analytics apps, with limitations.
-
Net Zero Analytics Base5 Apps
Available with a Net Zero Cloud Growth license. Gives access to Net Zero Analytics apps, with limitations.
-
CRM Analytics for Net Zero Cloud
Available with the CRM Analytics for Net Zero Cloud add-on. Gives users the full platform capabilities of CRM Analytics, including the ability to create and customize CRM Analytics apps and dashboards in Net Zero Cloud.
Note: For more information on the differences between the analytics permission set licenses, see the Net Zero Cloud documentation.
-
Net Zero Cloud
Safiya isn’t going to set up Tableau analytics yet, but she assigns herself the CRM Analytics for Net Zero Cloud permission set license now so that she’s ready when the time comes. (Safiya sets up Net Zero Analytics in the Net Zero Cloud Analytics Setup module. See the link in the Resources section.)
- From Setup, search for and then select Users.
- Click the name of an admin user, click the Permission Set License Assignments related list, and then click Edit Assignments.
- Use the arrows to add Net Zero Cloud and CRM Analytics for Net Zero Cloud to the Enabled Permission Sets box, and save your changes.
Now, Safiya's ready to set up user profiles.
Create Profiles for Net Zero Cloud
Profiles define how users access objects and data, and what they can do in the app. Admins create users and assign them a profile based on their role. We suggest creating these two profiles for Net Zero Cloud roles. Later, you assign corresponding permission sets to each user to give them permissions specific to Net Zero Cloud.
-
Net Zero Manager
Internal team members with edit access. Managers can create and update records, and modify CRM Analytics dashboards.
-
Net Zero Auditor
Internal team members or external auditors with read-only access. Auditors can collaborate with Net Zero Cloud teams during the verification process. They can also review data in objects and reports, and view CRM Analytics dashboards.
Note: When configuring profiles, you can work in the enhanced profile user interface or the original profile user interface. Safiya prefers the enhanced profile user interface. To switch profile user interfaces, from Setup, search for and then select User Management Settings, then turn on the Enhanced Profile User Interface.
Create Auditor and Manager Profiles
- From Setup, search for and then select Profiles.
- Click New Profile.
- On the Clone Profile page, for Existing Profile, select Standard User.
- Enter a Profile Name, such as Net Zero Manager, and save your changes.
- Repeat these steps to create a Net Zero Auditor profile, too.
Turn On Net Zero Cloud
Now, turn on Net Zero Cloud in the org.
- From Setup, search for Net Zero and then select Enable Net Zero Settings.
- Turn on Net Zero Cloud.
Enable App Access
Next, make sure all your profiles have access to the Net Zero app.
- From Setup, search for and then select App Manager.
- Click the action menu for Net Zero and select Edit.
- Select User Profiles, and add your new manager and auditor profiles, plus the system administrator profile, to Selected Profiles.
- Save your changes.
Set the Default App
Make Net Zero the default app for all your profiles.
- From Setup, search for and then select Profiles.
- Select your manager profile, click Assigned Apps, and then click Edit.
- Select Net Zero as the Default app.
- Save your changes.
- Repeat these steps for your auditor and system administrator profiles, too.
Confirm Page Layout Assignments
Safiya has one more task to complete on her profiles: checking their page layouts.
Page layouts control the organization of buttons, fields, and related lists on object record pages. They also determine which fields are visible, required, or read-only. For Net Zero Cloud objects that have only one record type—which is most Net Zero Cloud objects—the page layout is assigned and no action is necessary. Later, when Safiya creates record types for some objects, she assigns different page layouts for each record type. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.
Here's how Safiya confirms the page layout assignments on her profiles.
- From Setup, search for and select Profiles, and then select the manager profile.
- In the Find Settings box, enter the name of a Net Zero Cloud object and select it from the list. For example, find and select Scope 3 Carbon Footprints.
- Click Edit.
- Review the page layout assignments.
- Select another object from the dropdown to check its page layout assignments.
- Repeat for the auditor profile and system administrator profiles, too.
Safiya’s all set. She created profiles for her Net Zero Cloud users, enabled Net Zero Cloud, and customized the Net Zero app so her users can work efficiently. Next, she’s going to add users and further configure Net Zero Cloud.
