Get to Know the Ecommerce Marketing Insights App
You’ve learned how to set up the different types of ecommerce connectors. But if you prefer a less hands-on approach, you can use the Ecommerce Marketing Insights app. With the Ecommerce Marketing Insights app, all you have to do is connect to your data streams, configure a few details, and the app creates out-of-the-box dashboards and visualizations for you.
The Ecommerce Marketing Insights app, available for free in the Marketplace, shows you how your marketing efforts are driving ecommerce revenue. With this app, you can analyze your ecommerce performance, at any granularity and from any platform.
Install the App
Only admins can install apps. To install this app, the admin must have credentials to at least one ecommerce platform and one advertising platform.
Setting up the app involves four easy steps.
- Install the app.
- Connect your ecommerce data.
- Connect to your marketing channels.
- Connect to your web analytics data. You can either use existing data streams or create new ones.
Let’s take a closer look.
To install the app:
- In Marketing Cloud Intelligence, select the Marketplace tab (1) and then search for (2) the Ecommerce Marketing Insights app (3).
- Select the app and then click Get it Now.
- To start the installation, click Start.
- Next, you must connect to your ecommerce data.
By default, all ecommerce data streams found in your workspace are selected. This includes TotalConnect, Amazon Vendor, Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Vendor Brand Analytics, Salesforce B2C, and Salesforce Order Management data streams. If you don’t want to use a data stream, then clear the checkbox.
- Click Next to move on to the next step.
- Now, you must connect to your marketing data. This includes all marketing data streams, for example, Facebook Ads. Again, if you don’t want to use a data stream, clear the checkbox.
- After you connect your marketing data, click Next.
- The last step is to connect to your web analytics data. This is an optional step.
- Click Install when you’re done.
After the app installs you’re ready to start using it.
Explore and Use the App
To open the app, from Marketing Cloud Intelligence, go to your Installed Solutions and select Ecommerce Marketing Insights.
When you install a Marketing Cloud Intelligence app, its underlying entities are installed in your Marketing Cloud Intelligence workspace. The Ecommerce Marketing Insights app comes with two out-of-the-box dashboards that are installed in the Visualize tab in Marketing Cloud Intelligence.
You also get a run mode of the app that gives you full control of your views. Click the Ecommerce Marketing Insights tile on the Installed Solutions page to view its run mode page.
The Ecommerce Marketing Insights run mode includes two tabs: KPIs and Marketing Channels (1). Both tabs include a date picker for selecting the date range for your data (2) and a Go to Dashboard button (3). Click Go to Dashboard when you want to see the preconfigured dashboards on the Visualize tab.
In the KPI tab, you can view your total revenue and spending to understand your ROAS and other KPIs, see which platforms performed better, and view trends over time.
In Marketing Channels, view all your marketing channels and their performance.
Change the KPI, and view different breakdowns using ROAS, revenue, or spend metrics. You can also view details per channel.
In this module, you learned about the ecommerce offering for Marketing Cloud Intelligence. You discovered different products including ecommerce connectors and the ecommerce app. You also learned about the ecommerce data model that allows you to map product catalogs, placed orders, number of purchased items within each order, and more. We encourage you to try out the different products for yourself and see how easy it is to ingest and analyze your ecommerce data.
