Create a Learning Plan

Providing learning and enablement for users to successfully work in Slack is an important part of any Slack launch. So, understanding your client’s Slack learning needs is an essential step in the discovery process.

Here’s the key information you want to uncover from your client.

  • Expectations or assumptions around learning for their organization
  • Past learning successes or challenges within the organization
  • Logistical requirements for delivering learning materials
  • Existing Slack learning approach (if they already use Slack)
  • Current pain points to directly address

Discuss these topics with your client to help build a learning plan that best meets their needs. In addition to developing the learning materials, review the decisions the client has made on their grid design and policies and settings. These inform your learning content.

Slack Learning Plan

  • Definition: A deliverable that outlines what learning materials you create for your client in addition to high-level details around logistics and approach.
  • Relationship to discovery: To recommend what training(s) to deliver and in what format, you first need to take into account the training constraints and requirements of your client.

Learning Materials

  • Definition: Multiple deliverables, usually in the form of live training, on-demand videos, or job aids.
  • Relationship to discovery: First, get clear on your client’s dream Slack setup. Use your discovery insights to shape both your admin enablement and user enablement.
