Use Marketplace Connectors

Note

Datorama is now Marketing Cloud Intelligence.

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify which Marketplace connectors are suitable for your use case.
  • Install and use Marketplace connectors.

Find the Right Marketplace Connectors

Marketplace Connectors are additional connectors that are not part of Marketing Cloud Intelligence’s core offering. A connector is a tool you use to connect to an external environment and pull data into Marketing Cloud Intelligence.

Under the Connectors tab in the Marketing Cloud Intelligence Marketplace, you can find connectors that were developed by partners and other third-party vendors, as well as Marketing Cloud Intelligence. It’s important to note that none of your account data will be provided to partners when installing a connector.

Once you install a connector you can use it to create a data stream, with no extra customizations needed.

To access Marketplace Connectors, go to the Marketplace and then click the Connectors tab (1). Here you can see all the connectors that are currently available for installation. By looking at the tile for each connector, you can determine whether it’s free or paid (2), if it was developed by Marketing Cloud Intelligence or by a Partner (3), and if it has already been installed in your account (4).

To learn more about what a connector does, you simply click the tile to reveal an overview. Each connector features an about section (5) that tells you what it can do and how you can use it. There’s also a section to see what category the app falls under, when it was released, and when it was last updated (6). Plus, you can view the dataset (7) that the data streams from this connector will include.

Based on the information provided about each connector, you can easily determine which connector could be suitable for the challenge you’re looking to solve.

Now that you know what marketplace connectors are, let’s cover how you can install them.

Install and Use Marketplace Connectors

In order to use a Marketplace Connector you must install it in your account. Only Admin users can install connectors. If you are a Viewer or a Power User, you can add a connector to your Wishlist and an Admin is notified that you’d like to have it installed. If you’re an Admin, click Get it now to initiate the installation process.

You’ll see a confirmation message once the installation is complete. From here, you can either go straight to creating a data stream via the connector, or view the connector in Installed Solutions.

To view installed connectors from the Marketplace main page, click Installed Solutions and then select the Connectors tab to view all installed connectors. Here you can see information about each connector including the following.

  • Connector name
  • Developer
  • Number of data streams using this connector
  • Date it was installed
  • Who installed the connector

If you click the options menu, you can Report an issue or Uninstall. If you’d like to report an issue with a connector, an email is sent to its developer. Note that issues with partner connectors will be handled by partners, and issues with Marketing Cloud Intelligence connectors will be handled by Marketing Cloud Intelligence. If for any reason you would like to uninstall a connector, you can choose to delete all of the components created by a connector—such as data streams—or keep them. If you decide to keep the components, the connector will not appear in the Connect & Mix tab anymore, however all data streams, templates, and authentications will remain and the data streams will be disabled automatically.

Now let’s see how you can create a data stream via a Marketplace connector. Navigate to Connect & Mix, then Data Streams list, and click Add New. Here you can see all the different ways to create a new data stream, including Marketplace connectors. You can either use the search bar (1) or simply scroll down through the list of providers to locate the connector you installed.

You can determine that a connector has been installed through the Marketplace by hovering over the Marketplace icon on the connector’s tile. If it’s been installed, you see Installed from marketplace.

Once you’ve located the connector, click it to begin the data stream creation process. Different connectors may include different options for creating data streams. In general, you enter your authentication details for the provider, select a time period for the data you’d like to pull into Marketing Cloud Intelligence, and configure any additional settings. Once you do that, your data stream will be created and the data will be available in your workspace. If you need a refresher on how to create data streams via connectors, head over to the module Data Uploading in Marketing Cloud Intelligence.
