Manage Your Account

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Understand data and identity.
  • Prepare for auditing and ongoing maintenance.

Data and Identity

As the Data Cloud admin, you're responsible for account setup, user provisioning, maintenance, and so on. You also should be aware of your customer's data subject rights and how the topics of data and identity are handled in Data Cloud. Watch the video to learn more about identity resolution rules in Data Cloud.

Note

Learn more about data security for admins in the module, Data Security.

Additional Admin Tasks

You are nearing the end of implementation, it's a good time to learn about additional tasks your team might need your help with.

  • Create a package in Data Cloud. As an admin, you can package and install your Data Cloud Amazon S3 data streams for distribution. A package is a container for Salesforce Metadata Component that can be either individual configurations or an entire custom Salesforce platform app. After the package is created, you can distribute it to other Salesforce users and orgs via an install link or AppExchange.  Learn more in the badge, Packaging and Data Kits in Data Cloud.
  • Identify your account's functional domain. The functional domain refers to the Salesforce's public cloud infrastructure where your instance is located. This information is helpful to provide when troubleshooting any potential issues with support. (Similar to knowing your MID in Marketing Cloud Engagement). From Data Cloud Setup, click Setup Home. Your functional domain is listed at the bottom of the page.

Auditing and Ongoing Maintenance

Before we wrap up let’s cover some tips for ongoing maintenance of your Data Cloud account. Since you now have more users in your account, it’s a good time to establish auditing procedures to detect potential abuse. This helps when troubleshooting any issues that might arise.

  • Monitor usage entitlements. As an admin, you need to monitor your account for activities that impact your contract. These include: Unified profiles (similar to Marketing Cloud Engagement contacts), segment publishes, and engagement events or records.
  • View identity resolution processing history. Once resolution rules have been enabled by your data-aware specialist, it is a good idea to regularly visit the Identity Resolution page to check the processing history and consolidation rate over time.
  • View record modification fields. All objects include fields to store the name of the user who created the record and who last modified the record. This provides some basic auditing information to help troubleshoot.
  • View and monitor setup changes with Setup Audit Trail. Admins can view Setup Audit Trail, which logs when modifications are made to your organization’s configuration.
  • View and monitor login history. You can review a list of successful and failed login attempts to your organization for the past 6 months.
  • Monitor account status on Salesforce Trust. Monitor service availability and performance for both your Marketing Cloud Engagement connection and your Data Cloud account. By doing so you can quickly identify issues related to ongoing incidents before you spend too much time troubleshooting.

Great job—you are officially an awesome admin for Data Cloud!
