Connect with Ecosystem Employers

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Reflect on your transferable skills and experience.
  • Identify the value of a video introduction to help employers get to know you.
  • Navigate the Trailblazer Career Marketplace to discover ecosystem opportunities.

Find the Skills in Your Story

Before connecting with employers in the Trailblazer Career Marketplace, it’s important to reflect on the skills you possess that help you stand out.

What experience do you have that relates to what you hope to do with a career in the Salesforce ecosystem? What products do you have experience in? What strengths do you have? What do you now understand and what skills have you acquired as a result of those experiences?

With Career Mode turned on, your profile is shown on the Trailblazer Career Marketplace. You appear in searches based on skills and products you selected for Career Mode. So once you have an idea of the skills that make you a valuable candidate, highlight them to increase the likelihood of impressing an employer.

Introduce Yourself via Video

Another great way to stand out and help employers get to know you is through a brief video introduction. Bring your skills, experience, and personality to life in a way that can’t be done through a traditional resume.

Take a look at a fellow Trailblazer’s video introduction as an example.

Now, It’s Your Turn!

After reflecting on your experience and transferable skills, spend some time researching relevant roles and jotting down keywords from job descriptions. Incorporating those details into your video can increase your chances of standing out to employers as the perfect fit.

As you practice for your video introduction, be mindful of your environment and virtual set-up—imagine that you’re speaking to an employer face-to-face. Look into the camera lens to mimic the effect of in-person eye contact and pay special attention to your body language, tone, speed, and pitch. Smile, bring some energy and fun, show your personality, and connect with the employer through the screen. It doesn’t take a sophisticated setup to look like a pro. Best practice is to keep your video under 90 seconds and use a stable camera with good audio and lighting.

After you record, upload your video to YouTube, and add the public link into the Get to Know Me section of Career Mode.
