Introduction

Vijay Lahiri is a senior developer at Cloud Kicks, a company that specializes in high-end custom sneakers. He wants to develop a new B2C Commerce storefront. But before he gets started, he wants to make sure that he has access to the latest and greatest information about B2C Commerce. He also wants to check out the resources that Salesforce provides especially for developers like him.

Vijay Lahiri, Cloud Kicks developerSo, how does he get plugged into all that good stuff? In this unit, we follow along as he learns about the Commerce Cloud Developer Center, the Salesforce Partner Community, and the Salesforce Trailblazer Community. He also learns how to access the B2C Commerce official documentation and product release information. In the documentation (called the Infocenter), he can explore product details and learn how B2C Commerce features and technology works.

Note

Developers who work for a partner organization can also join the Salesforce Partner Community.

First, Vijay learns how to access these resources.

Join the Salesforce Developer Center for Commerce Cloud

Vijay wants to know where can he go for help when he’s stuck. Is there a way he can discuss his issues with other developers and share solutions? Working with other developers is a big part of how he gets his work done. Luckily, that’s what the Salesforce Developer Center for Commerce Cloud is all about.

The Salesforce Developer Center is the go-to place for B2C Commerce developer information, with links to the APIs, best practices, and a code repository.

Access the Salesforce Developer Center for Commerce Cloud tools and collaboration.

He clicks Connect to access the B2C Commerce developer discussion board. On the discussion board, he can search the forum, ask a question, or post or respond to a poll.

Join the Salesforce Partner Community

Although Vijay works for Cloud Kicks, many B2C Commerce developers work for partner organizations. Resources for partners are available though the Salesforce Partner Community, a trusted environment where partners can get answers, share ideas, collaborate, and learn best practices.

Join the Salesforce Partner Community to get answers, share ideas, and learn best practices.

Another great resource is the B2C Commerce Chatter group. Partners use this to communicate with the global Salesforce LINK Technology Partner Team and other partners. There's also a Chatter group within the Partner Community called Official: LINK Tech Partner Program for LINK partners.

Note

These links require log in access.

Join the Salesforce Trailblazer Community

Vijay looks to this community for the details he needs to do his job. He can ask questions and search questions that have already been answered. He can read the documentation and release notes. He can sign up for events, collaborate with others, and submit his fabulous ideas He can also take a look at known issues to see if his issue has already been reported.

Join the Salesforce Trailblazer Community to access current information, collaborate with others, and suggest new features.

Find Release Information

Vijay definitely wants to keep up with new features and bug fixes in B2C Commerce releases. Here's how to do it.

  1. Open the Trailblazer Community portal.
  2. Click the Community tab and select Salesforce Help.
View Release Notes from the Trailblazer Community portal.
  3. Click Commerce.
  4. Click B2C Commerce Release Notes.

Search the Documentation

Vijay has lots of questions. What’s the procedure for connecting to the server? What does this option on the screen mean? Sometimes he just wants to look up something in the documentation. He can find B2C Commerce help documentation (called the Infocenter) on the Trailblazer Community portal or via Google.

He quickly locates the developer documentation, information about using Business Manager, B2C Commerce APIs, admin tasks, and more.

Welcome page for the Documentation Infocenter. Includes a list of topics and quick links to specific areas of information.

Next Steps

In this unit, Vijay explored the Trailhead Community portal to see all the latest B2C Commerce news and information. He also learned how to access developer resources, such as the discussion board, code libraries, and the B2C Commerce documentation portal.

That’s some cool stuff, but he’s getting anxious to start developing his storefront. Next, let’s get the code repositories for the Storefront Reference Architecture (SFRA), which provides both the code base and a blueprint for site design.
