Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe the impact that the quick setup and automated features have on org and store configuration.
  • Explain the value of the Commerce dashboards.
  • Recognize the impact of automated settings on the success of your search engine optimization (SEO) strategy.

Tools and Features

The Commerce app offers a powerful suite of tools and features to optimize B2B and D2C business operations.

Ursa Major Solar is a supplier of solar components and systems and also a Salesforce Sales, Service, Marketing, and Data Cloud customer. Recently, Ursa Major Solar transformed its B2B business to an online operation. In addition, it developed an online D2C business to sell a new residential line of products directly to consumers. As a satisfied Salesforce customer, Ursa Major Solar licensed Salesforce B2B Commerce and D2C Commerce as its ecommerce platform.

What Are the Administrator Features?

Maria Jimenez is the admin in charge of the Salesforce org at Ursa Major Solar.

In addition to her tasks as the Salesforce admin, Maria is responsible for:

  • Configuring the Ursa Major Solar org for Commerce.
  • Setting up and configuring the profiles and permissions for all the users who use the Commerce app.
  • Controlling security and org sharing settings to determine who must see what information in the org, the Commerce app, and the stores.
  • Completing the initial configuration of the B2B and D2C stores.
  • Enabling multiple currencies and languages so Ursa Major Solar can expand internationally.
  • Previewing, activating, and publishing the store.
  • Creating reports and dashboards to track metrics in the Commerce app.
  • Keeping up to date with all the platform changes and their business impact.

Wow! That’s a lot of responsibilities. Here’s a look at the features and benefits that help Maria complete all her B2B and D2C store administrator tasks.

Quick Setup

Maria loves that she can have a basic store up and running in about 30 minutes. Let’s explore the Quick setup features that make store setup so easy.

Feature

Description

Quick Store Setup

Experience fast setup and activation with the Commerce app. The easy-to-follow guided setup tasks are tailored to your specific selling channel, which makes the initial setup process effortless. You can preview your store before activating it to ensure everything is just right.

Commerce Assistant

Get a one-click automated setup of Payments, Order Management, Reports and Dashboards, and Omnichannel Inventory.

Smart Defaults

Rely on smart defaults to set up guest access and self-registration user settings and to configure D2C stores with Salesforce Checkout as the default checkout component. Salesforce Checkout is a unified checkout experience that uses Salesforce native services for payments, taxes, and shipping.

Easy Person Account Setup

Set up person accounts in the Commerce app with just one click. Person accounts make the shopping experience more convenient by representing the customers who visit the store and make purchases.

Activate Without a Custom Domain

Activate your commerce store to preview it, or share it with colleagues before setting up your custom domain. When you’re ready to go live, configure the CDN and custom domain to provide optimal performance, scalability, and security.

Import Data Asynchronously

Data import for the Commerce app is asynchronous. That means you can set up an import session and move on to complete other jobs without impacting system performance. You can import products, product variations, and images by uploading a CSV file. You can also import data for a particular store or globally so that any store can access it.

Manage Profiles and Permissions

Maria sets up and configures the profiles and permissions for all the users who need access to the Commerce app. A typical Commerce app implementation involves several task-based user personas, including commerce administrator, merchandiser, and developer. Having previously set up permissions and profiles manually, Maria appreciates the preconfigured options the Commerce app offers.

Preconfigured Feature

Description

Easy User Profile Management

Assign preconfigured profiles and permission sets for each store user persona.

To do this, assign a user to a profile and assign the appropriate permission.

Buyer Profile Management

Assign the provided preconfigured permission sets for buyers and buyer managers.

The preconfigured buyer permission set allows access to the store. Buyer users can see products and categories of products, and add products to wishlists.

A preconfigured buyer manager permission set includes all buyer capabilities and also allows access to manage carts and orders related to the buyer manager’s account. Buyer manager users can manage contacts and reports.

Success by Numbers with Commerce Dashboards

One of Maria’s favorite features are the Commerce dashboards. The initial setup process is simple: It’s a single click and part of the quick store setup. The dashboards provide detailed metrics for finance, merchandising, and payments.

Your commerce teams can use the dashboards to make informed decisions about how to optimize their online storefronts, increase sales, and enhance customer satisfaction. With real-time data at their fingertips, users can identify trends, spot opportunities, and address any potential issues promptly.

Here’s a quick look at what the dashboards offer.

Dashboard

Description

Commerce Payments Dashboard

Get insight into the health and performance of your store’s payment transactions with a comprehensive view of your online payments.

Analyze this information to make data-driven decisions that streamline your transaction processes.

Commerce Promotions Dashboard

Get a comprehensive analysis of your promotions, coupon offerings, and discount campaigns.

Use the information to create data-driven strategies and optimize your promotions, ultimately improving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.

Commerce Finance Dashboard

Get a comprehensive view of your store’s financial health with the Commerce Finance Dashboard.

Monitor your sales, taxes, and shipping charges within a selected date range all in a single dashboard.

Search Engine Optimization

As an administrator, Maria is responsible for configuring the search engine optimization (SEO) strategy. SEO focuses on increasing non-paid search engine traffic for a site. Maria knows a well-executed SEO strategy uses both creative and technical elements.
